In your own words, tell me what do you understand by "like terms" and "unlike terms"?
Give examples for like terms and unlike terms.

Like terms are things that can be grouped together example 15x and 15x are like terms . Unlike terms are terms that cant be group together like 19x and 14xy.

Like terms are terms that have the similar variables
example ( 2x , 3x )

Unlike terms are terms that have different variables
example ( 2x , 7n )

I dont understand about like terms and unlike terms.
(>'')> <(''<)

Like terms are like 9x & 8x

Unlike terms are like 8x & 8c

terms are represented by different pronumerals
like terms are the letter part is the same in two terms.
unlike terms are the letter part different in two terms.

terms are represented by different pronumerals. Terms which contain the same variable or literal factor are called 'like terms'. Otherwise they are called 'unlike terms'

If a letter is in the two terms they are called "like" terms.
For example, 5x and 8x,3y and 2y and 9e and 6e.
"Unlike" terms are letters that appear in one term but not the other.
For example, 5xy and 4vy, 3ry and 4zy
and 4zx and 5xy

For like terms, the variable must be the same. Like 103x & 75x. The front number does not matter at all. For unlike terms, the variable is different, like, 103xcube & 75xsquare.

when two terms has the same varibles, it is like terms.
when two terms has a different varibles it is unlike terms.

like terms are like (1y 3y)
unlike terms are like (3y 7g)

If it is like terms, it will be like '15x' and '100x'. The number infront does not matter, it is the variable [x] that matter. If example of unlike terms, it will be like 13x'cube' and 16x'square'.
Eg. Like terms : 16x , 18x
Unlike terms : 16x'cube', 18x'square'

LIKE TERMS
if have similarity
example:
7X 7Y

UNLIKE TERMS
dont have similarity
example:
7Y 8X

not very sure i think same and not same

Anonymous said...

Like terms are same variable(s)
having the same power(s)...

Unlike terms are terms that are not
the same...

Like Terms: 3a,7a
11,-2

Unlike terms: 4a,8b
16r,-30

i heard some thing about the 7k, things but have totally no idea about it.
but as long as i read more about it, i am sure i will be able 2 cope up with the rest.

Like terms are terms that are alike, examples like:
a)13x,56x,73x,18x
b)54xy,78xy,95xy,8xy
c)7,67,835,7894

Anonymous said...

Unlike terms are terms that are not alike. Examples are:
a)56d,89f,78g,18a
b)46,46f,78h,90t
c)56xy,87z,567,98g

If terms have the same variables, they were called "like terms" and otherwise are called "unlike terms." "Like terms" are number that consists the same variables. Example: 3a, 2a, 4a or 7y, 6y and 8y. The letters used were called variable. It can be added, subtract, divide and multiply. For "unlike terms", they does not consists the same variable. So it can't be added, subtract, divided, but it can be multiply. Example: 4a,8b , 3x,9y or 15w,(-36).

We called like terms when two terms have identical variable parts
eg;7a,3a
7yz,14yz

whereas, unlike terms is the oppisite one
eg;9b,7c
-yz,-xy

Like terms are numbers which have something in common eg 8,5,7 or 5k,100k,1k while unlike terms are the contrast eg 5,1m,4r or 6,y2,3r...

Like Terms Are Same/Common And Can Be Operated In Any Way While Unlike Terms Are Different And Cannot Be Operated Together But Can Only Be Simplified. For Example, 2x & 6x Are Like Terms.5r and 5f are unlike terms so they HAVE to be simplified.

For Example,

Like Terms...

5r+4r=9r

Unlike terms...

3t+3ry=(3t+3ry)
We have to make a bracket for it.
And also do not be gullible by seeing the same numbers and writing the answer (6try) which is wrong.

Like terms are numbers that can be added or subtracted as the variables are the same. Well, as for unlike terms, it cannot be added or subtracted as the variables are not the same..

Unlike terms are variables that are different, like 9a,9b,9797a.
